More than 10,000 people from across the North Shore benefit each year from NSCAP services. They are low-income individuals and families working to make ends meet or facing a period of crisis in their lives.
North Shore Community Action Programs is OPEN! Our office is closed for in-person meetings, but we are available to you by phone and email.
This decision was made with an abundance of caution and in the interest of protecting the health and safety of our staff and clients. During this time, the office will not be open to the public for face to face meetings. There will be no on site intakes, ESOL classes, or any in-person meetings during this time. In order to continue to serve our clients to the best of our ability, staff will still be available via email, phone, and fax. “Thank you NSCAP for helping us with temporary shelter, and a permanent place to live.”
NSCAP was able to assist a homeless family to move to a new apartment this month. A local mother and her five year old son became homeless when their lease was not renewed. The mother is a victim of domestic violence and is not receiving child support. Eventually the mother found employment and was able to find an apartment they could afford in Peabody, but she lacked the money to pay first and last month’s rent and security deposit. NSCAP paid for her start-up costs and the family was able to move to an affordable and safe apartment. She will apply for a permanent housing subsidy at the local housing authorities and take advantage of the local food pantries and NSCAP’s Fuel Assistance Program.
