SSFES Program Eligibility & Cost

Program Eligibility:

Families are referred to the program through the North Shore office of the DTA. To access shelter, families must have children living with them or be pregnant to qualify, and must meet asset and income guidelines* to be approved for Emergency Assistance (EA). Eligible families are then referred to the program and placed in Massachusetts shelters when and where openings are available.

Program Costs or Fees:

The Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) funds the program. NSCAP pays the rent and utilities for the shelter apartments which are located in Beverly, Salem, and Peabody. The only cost to families is telephone service, which families are required to maintain.
