North Shore Housing Action Group (NSHAG) Project
The North Shore Housing Action Group (NSHAG) is a network of social service agencies, faith-based organizations, elected officials, and businesses that are working collaboratively to address the needs of those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The network covers the 24 cities and towns of Cape Ann, southern Essex County, and the greater Lynn region. While there are already a number of activities and services underway in these communities to address homelessness, too often these efforts happen in isolation. What NSHAG aims to do is to provide an enhanced level of coordination and communication among providers.
NSHAG serves diverse populations - each with specific service needs - addressing homelessness on the North Shore among families and individuals, among young adults and elders, among victims of domestic violence and people with mental health issues, and reaching both long-time residents and newcomers. We build on the strength of existing networks such as those related to HUD McKinney funding through the Lynn PACT and the North Shore HOME Consortium (Continuum of Care), and a number of strong local providers.
