Fuel Assistance
NSCAP's Fuel Assistance Program helps low-income families and individuals with the cost of heating their home in the winter (November 1 to April 30), even if they rent. We also offer free energy conservation services (weatherization and appliance replacement) that can help income-eligible clients save on their utility bills.
Eligibility
Eligibility is based on the gross annual income of all household members over age 18 and the number of household members. See the “Income Eligibility Guidelines” below. (These guidelines are for the November 2011 to April 2012 season.) You can either own your own home or rent, even if your heat is included in the rent. You must be a resident of Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Salem, Topsfield, Middleton, or Marblehead.

First time applicants should call the phone number above. A staff member will let you know when you can come to fill out an application and what you need to bring. That will include: a photo I.D., income documentation for the past four weeks, Social Security numbers for all household members, a fuel bill and an electric bill.
If you applied for Fuel Assistance the previous year, a renewal application and a list of needed documentation will be mailed to your home address. If your address changed, please let us know. You do not need an appointment to come in. In fact, it is often faster to return your completed renewal application by mail.
