Energy Conservation

Energy costs continue to rise. We hear about conserving energy all the time on the news. NSCAP can help low-income people conserve energy and save money on utilities through the programs listed in the "Eligibility" section below.

Eligibility
DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – Federally funded.  Designed to help you save money on your heating and cooling bills, and to make your home more comfortable.  All work is done by professional, insured contractors and includes attic and wall insulation and air sealing.  If you are eligible for Fuel Assistance, and your home has not been weatherized by NSCAP since September 30, 1994, you may qualify for this program.  You may be a homeowner or renter to be eligible.

NATIONAL GRID WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – Funded by
National Grid.  A weatherization program for National Grid customers.  Includes attic and wall insulation, air sealing, and heating system replacements.  If you are receiving the low-income discount rate, you may qualify for this program.  You may be a homeowner or renter to be eligible.

HEARTWAP – Federally funded.  HEARTWAP is an emergency program to help homeowners who are eligible for Fuel Assistance repair or replace heating systems that meet State criteria.  This program is for homeowners only.

APPLIANCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM – Funded by National Grid. AMP is designed to educate you about your electric usage.  An energy manager will test your refrigerator(s) and/or freezer(s) to determine if it is a high energy user. If so, it may be replaced at no cost.  The energy manager will install energy saving light bulbs and inform you on how to conserve electricity.  You may be a homeowner or tenant to be eligible.
