River House, Inc. is a year-round homeless shelter for the chronically mentally ill homeless located in Beverly, Massachusetts. The shelter provides 16 beds and the safe haven provides five single rooms for formely homeless individuals moving into more permanent housing.Over the course of the winter season, River House serves more than 100 different individuals. On the North Shore, River House serves the towns of Beverly, Salem, Wenham, Danvers, Peabody and others.

But River House does more-much more-than provide a bed and a meal. Through the self- sufficiency program, River House provides individualized case management, including job search assistance, to its guests.

With the help of the Community Health Network Funding, River House is strengthening its Self- sufficiency Program, which helps staff to work with clients to secure housing, employment, mental health services and life skills.

River House Shelter History

1999: The shelter was run by the City of Beverly through Beverly Bootstraps in the former McDonald's on Water Street in Beverly.
2000-2002: The shelter was run at River House by Salvation Army.
2003:

The shelter was run in the former McDonald's on Water Street by the Beverly Emergency Shelter Coalition in partnership with the Greater Beverly YMCA.
River House became incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit entity.
